Marilyn recognized her love for math early on. By the time she entered high school, she was drawn to the accounting field. That decision led to earning her accounting diploma from the Saskatchewan Technical Institute in Moose Jaw.
Sears Canada in Regina was Marilyn’s first employer. There, her position as a General Ledger Clerk kept changing and growing as Sears deleted or combined departments. Offered opportunities to transfer, she moved first to Winnipeg and then to Edmonton, where she took on the role of Regional Merchandise and Data Input Supervisor – Western Canada.
Her talent and ability to sort out the puzzles that numbers can present helped her in her last role at Sears as a Regional Internal Auditor. Because it was a travelling position, Marilyn visited lots of Canadian cities from Thunder Bay to Victoria. She loved visiting the different locations, but she found living out of a suitcase tedious!
With that wealth of experience under her belt, Marilyn has what it takes at Preferred Client Services to help clients who struggle with their financials. “I like to work behind the scenes,” says Marilyn. “I have the right kind of brain to see the numbers clearly, despite their complexity. The work is very enjoyable.”
Marilyn values the knowledgeable support she gets at Preferred Client Services. “Everyone’s very friendly – I feel very comfortable here.”
A busy mom away from work, Marilyn chauffeurs her two teenagers to their various sports events. In relax mode, she’s either knitting or reading. One of the special activities she, her husband, and her kids look forward to as a family every winter is downhill skiing.
