Team Bios

Traveling with her young daughter, Maria Karpliuk joined her husband in Canada in the spring of 2024. The journey here lasted an arduous 40 hours.

Educated in Russia, Maria earned her master’s degree in Economics and Management at the State University of Management in Moscow in 2006. Her first position was as an Assistant Auditor of a prominent Russian company. Over time, she rose through the ranks to become a Deputy Director of the IFRS Reporting Department.

Initially part of a volunteer program, Maria was hired by PCS in May 2024. In her previous experience as an accountant and auditor, she worked with completed reports, not the preparation and record keeping. She is finding bookkeeping – the beginning of the financial spectrum - quite intriguing. As she becomes more proficient with Canadian software and programs, she looks forward to working on more complex files.

Maria values accuracy and has learned the importance of reviewing and checking one’s work. “When I was auditing, I had a hand in the process from start to finish. It was very rewarding to see the results.”

At home, Maria spends time reading to or playing with her daughter. Now that her daughter has learned to skate, the family visits the rink often. To unwind, Maria watches her favorite TV series.
